David Israel Katz came to San Francisco from Tel Aviv, where he fronted legendary Israeli post-rock band The Fluorescents, sang with the Israeli Philharmonic, produced music for television, and coached high schoolers in musical theater.  He is founder and artistic director of experimental performance group foreignfire, and leads outside-the-box independent Jewish rituals.  David studied composition and Improvisation at Mills College, and teaches guitar, singing, songwriting, and improvisation at his home studio in the Inner Richmond.
